God is Unchanging
Week Starting May 9, 2021
Read this Scripture:
Psalm 102:27 - But you are the same, and your years have no end. (ESV)
Read this Thought:
It is a beautiful reality that God is unchanging. This means that He is always consistent - always dependable. God isn’t going to act a certain way one day and a different way the next. He is always the same because He is unchanging.

This is one way that God is very different from us - we change all the time. We get older. We learn new things. We like something one day and yet soon afterward we decide that we don’t. We are very changeable. And we are not the only thing that changes, all of creation does too!

Imagine this… The whole earth is one big ocean, moving around, back and forth - constantly changing. However, on this earth, there is one large unmoving rock sticking out above the ocean. If you were drifting and moving on that ocean you would want to find any way possible to anchor yourself to the one unmoving and solid rock.

God is like that rock. We, and all creation, are constantly changing. He alone is solid and dependable - because He is unchanging. To find safety and rest we must be anchored to Him. There is a very old song that says it like this:
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
Do this Activity:
Go outside and find a flower or a tree. Talk about how it changes. Then talk about how God - the creator of these changing things - does not change. He is always the same.
Discuss this Question:
God is unchangeable even in His promises. What is a promise that God has given us that you really like?

Scripture to Memorise:
Deuteronomy 6:4–5
[4] Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. [5] You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. (ESV)
